At Anthem, we’re all about challenging ourselves—and each other. But sometimes, the toughest challenges aren’t found on the whiteboard. They’re found on the open road, with a weighted pack on your back, surrounded by your community. This is why the Warrior Ruck has become such an important event for us.
For those unfamiliar, a “ruck” is a long walk or march with a weighted backpack, a practice deeply rooted in military tradition. Our Warrior Ruck is our way of embracing that tradition, not just as a physical test, but as a shared mission with a purpose that extends far beyond our own fitness.
The Power of Shared Struggle (Again)
You’ve heard us talk about the power of shared struggle. The Warrior Ruck is the ultimate expression of this. Unlike a typical workout, where you might be focused solely on your own time or reps, a ruck is a team effort. You’re walking side-by-side with your fellow athletes, pushing through the miles and the weight together. The conversations, the encouragement, and the quiet moments of shared perseverance forge bonds that can’t be replicated. It’s a powerful reminder that no matter how heavy the load feels, you’re not carrying it alone.
Building Mental Grit
The Warrior Ruck is as much a mental challenge as it is a physical one. As the miles wear on and the weight feels heavier, your mind will try to talk you out of it. It’s in those moments of discomfort that you build true mental toughness. The Warrior Ruck teaches you to silence the doubt, push through the pain, and keep putting one foot in front of the other. This resilience is a skill that transfers directly to the gym, to your work, and to the challenges of everyday life. It’s about proving to yourself that you are capable of more than you think.
Honoring a Greater Purpose
The most important reason we do the Warrior Ruck is to honor and support those who have served our country. Our ruck event is a fundraiser for Warriors Next Adventure, a non-profit organization founded by veteran Nick Rahn, whose own struggles with PTSD inspired him to help others.
Warriors Next Adventure is dedicated to helping veterans find healing and purpose through recreational therapy and outdoor experiences. They offer a variety of programs, including hiking, mountain climbing, jiu-jitsu training, and fishing, to help veterans rebuild a sense of camaraderie and work through past traumas. They also provide a critical 24/7 suicide hotline, offering immediate support to those in crisis. Every step we take and every dollar we raise is a sign of our gratitude and our commitment to this life-saving cause.
Event Details
The Warrior Ruck will take place on Saturday, August 16 at 8am. The event will start and finish right here at Anthem Strength & Conditioning. Come ready to challenge yourself and support an incredible cause!
A Note on Parking
We’re expecting a big turnout for this event, and parking at Anthem is limited. Please consider carpooling with a friend or parking in designated public spaces across the street. We kindly ask that you do not park in the carwash parking lot to ensure we are good neighbors to our fellow businesses. Thank you for your cooperation!
Can’t Make It? You Can Still Help!
Even if you can’t join us in person for the ruck, you can still be a part of this mission and show your support. Here’s how:
Sign up for the ruck and get a pair of Ruck Socks (while supplies last!). You’ll be contributing directly to Warriors Next Adventure, and you’ll get some sweet swag to wear on your next adventure.
Do an equivalent ruck while you’re out of town. Head out on your own walk with a weighted pack and complete the distance wherever you are.
Post a picture and tag @crossfitanthem to show us your support from afar! It’s a great way to stay connected and inspire others.
Join us on our next Warrior Ruck and experience the power of shared purpose.
