With the holidays just around the corner and all the Black Friday sales, we wanted to help you out, if you’re looking for that perfect gift for your favorite CrossFitter! So here’s our best recommendations!
Also, you don’t NEED any of this stuff, but as you get farther into your CrossFit journey some of these accessories make a big difference!
Jump Rope
Best for learning double unders: RX Smart Gear
These ropes are great because they’re a bit heavier and it’s easier to feel the rhythm as you are learning.
Best for Speed and Light Weight: RPM Rope
Once you have some double unders this is a great rope to graduate to. They’re lighter, with smaller handles–allowing for a more relaxed grip and they don’t tangle as easily.
Grips
Most of us use Victory Grips and LOVE them! We all slightly differ in our favorite style, but you can take their online quiz to find what you are looking for. Just know that our bars are Speal bars (you’ll want a grip that is made for the bars at Anthem).
Eric: V Series Men’s Tactical 3.0 Freedom
Hadley: Women’s Tactical 3.0 Freedom
Megan: Women’s X2 3-FC
Justin (the non-Victory Grip user): Bear Komplex 3-hole Carbon Fiber
Callus Care
It’s easy to skip over this part as it is a habit built in the privacy of your own home (and hopefully not on an airplane….because ewww).
Calluses are good, we need them to be able to do big sets of gymnastics, but you need to do some maintenance to prevent ripping, in addition to a good grip. Most of us use a simple callus shaver once a week off of Amazon, or trimming them with nail clippers work too. Once a week right after the shower is the perfect time for a little hand maintenance!
Knee Sleeves
5mm Rogue Knee sleeves are Hadley & Eric’s top pick! There is a size chart on the Rogue website to help point you in the right direction. They will be tight when you first get them and they should be!! Compression is the winning ingredient here and they will stretch over time. If you love Anthem and want some Anthem themed sleeves, reach out to Hadley. We can customize your sleeves for you through Rogue!
Justin wears the Rehband sleeves. I think he has enough pairs for every day of the week, so you know he likes them!
CrossFit Shoes
There are a lot of great options out there, but once you find ones you like, you’ll likely stick with them. These are the shoes we each love, but there may be some trial and error for each individual!
Eric: Reebok Nano 2
Hadley: Reebok Nano x3 or x4 (although, I think I’m going to try the Nano 2 next)
Justin: Reebok Nano 6 if you can find them (we couldn’t find them…but the Born Primitive Savage 1 are similar)
Kami: Nike Metcon
Megan: RAD ONE
Weightlifting Shoes
Same deal here…some personal variability, but this is what we like/use:
Eric: Nike Romaleos
Hadley: Reebok Legacy Lifter, but if you have a wide foot, I recommend the TYR lifter
Justin: Reebok, but is planning to buy TYR next (TYR has 25% off right now too)
Weightlifting Belts
Most of our coaches don’t use a belt and they should certainly be reserved for higher percentages. It’s important to learn how to brace without a belt, but they can be great for 1RM day!
For women, Hadley really likes Toomey’s weightbelt by Rogue. It’s narrower for a more petite lifter, but the 2POOD ones have some FUN designs!
Weightlifting Straps
We’re getting in the weeds here a bit, BUT for the Olympic Lifting enthusiasts, these are great for pulls and deadlifts! They’d make a great stocking stuffer!
Eric: Just ordered Victory Grips weightlifting straps. They look pretty sweet and very user friendly!
Hadley: Attitude nation…also they have Anthem teal, so that’s mostly why I bought them.
Justin: Harbinger (no slip, padded)
Thumb Tape
Again in the weeds here, but good stocking stuffers for your favorite Olympic Lifter. We mostly added this category because of our accessory king, Justin. He loves his reusable Jerk Fit Nubs found on AMAZON. Hadley rarely use tape these days, but she does do it’s WOD NATION.
Gym Bags
We have a whole range of opinions here! From Kam’s Louis Vuitton to Hadley’s AMAZON cheap military tactical bag that she loves. Justin is in the middle with his King Kong bag (also on sale right now).
Favorite Recovery Protocol
Hadley: I go to Thrive twice a month for maintenance and it has helped me prevent lots of potential injuries, not to mention helped me through a few injuries too! A gift card to Thrive would be a great gift, plus you get to support a local business we love! They are offering 50% off for an onboarding with a new client right now! You can purchase a gift card here.
Eric: This guy is a recovery tool minimalist…hypervolt, theragun, and of course a steak!
Justin & Kami: Are both regulars at Move Well Chiropractic in Hudson. They are great and CrossFitters too!
Megan: The Toe Spacer!
Give the Gift of Fitness and support Anthem! If the person on your list isn’t a CrossFitter (yet), consider gifting them a one month membership to one of our programs (must be used within 6 months of purchase). Reach out to Hadley to gift one of these memberships.
