Meet Mike! The incredibly fit mid 50 year old who is retiring in December!
If you’re a regular at Anthem, especially the 5:30am class then you already know Mike. For those of you who don’t know him….he’s the one crushing the leaderboard for all rowing workouts (yes, even at 5:30am) and most other cardio WODS. Although, he is not a fan of burpees.
What was your first impression of CrossFit How has that changed?
When I first signed up for CrossFit I had no idea what it was. I like combination of cardio and strength. I really like the challenge of most of the WODs minus Burpees.
What was your first “bright spot” at Anthem?
I’m no pro but I can finally do double unders. They always looked so simple and it took me years to figure it out.
How has being at Anthem benefitted you as an athlete?
My strength has really improved since coming to Anthem.
How have your goals or accomplishments shifted since working with Anthem coaches?
Goals are to continue to improve on lifting techniques.
What are you working on now?
I’m not working on them yet, but maybe muscle ups next year.
You’re retiring in December. Do you have any plans or goals for retirement?
I’m really excited about retirement. I’m just going to enjoy being done working.

Favorite song would be anything from AC/DC
